With the LMP USB-C miniStore, the Mac mini’s mass storage capacity can be expanded inexpensively and in no time while the appearance remains almost unchanged (the height of the Mac mini will be slightly increased by about 15 mm). It can be used as an additional volume, as boot volume or as Time Machine backup.
Simply remove the Mac mini’s plastic bottom with the provided spattle, mount the miniStore by pressing it onto the Mac mini and connect the USB-C data cable to one of the Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C/USB 4) ports – finished! You will see either a volume on the desktop or create a new boot volume*.
Inside the miniStore, you can utilize a standard M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD in lengths of 22×40 mm, 22×60 mmm or 22×80 mm. There is no capacity limit that you are going to install in the miniStore – expand as you wish and change when you need more storage!
The transfer rate reaches up to 950 MB/s in real use (transfer rate depends largely on type of NVMe SSD!). The customized right-angled USB-C data cable can be attached to any of the Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C/USB 4) ports of the Mac mini.
*To use the miniStore as boot volume, go to support.apple.com and search for HT208198 support page. Follow the steps to create an external boot volume on your Mac.
